It was a monday morning and I was about to be late for school. My dad drops me off, and as I walk into school I notice something different. I remember from the moment I stepped outside of my house I didn’t see a single animal. No squirrels running up trees or birds chirping. I just decided to ignore it. Soon after I got to school and I was in gym waiting for the announcements to go off. Unusually, they were a few minutes late but the bell rang for them to start. “Attention everyone this is a lock down,” Said doctor Phillips. “This can’t be fake, we just had a practice lockdown!” I thought to myself. Everyone rushed to the locker rooms as soon as possible. We waited for ever until the most terrifying moment of my life happened. I heard glass breaking followed by screams and barking. My favorite book is Jackie & Me by Jackie Robinson for multiple reasons. One, is that the book is historical, but at the same time a fun adventure book. Joe (the main character) has to do a report on a civil rights activist. He has a love of baseball so he chooses Jackie Robinson. Nobody knows that he has a power to put a baseball card to his chest and go back to that time. He uses that to get info from a primary source, Jackie Robinson. Another reason is that the book shows real sports events and how black people were treated in that time. In 4th grade, I also did a book report on it. Overall I would recommend anyone to read this adventure historical fiction book.
