Dancing my way Through Paris; Lit Device Short Story

I moved to Paris. I didn’t move to Paris just because I wanted to, I wanted to because I become a professional dancer. The opportunities, the teachers, the dancers, everything just sounds so fun. We will be living in a flat in the center of Paris. We saw it right when we got out of the cab and it was in the middle of our neighborhood. I ran up the stairs and dashed to the door! There are two main living rooms, a dining room, a kitchen, four bedrooms, four bathrooms, three stories, a balcony, an indoor pool, and an outdoor one too. My parents cannot stop saying that “the best part is the view outside the window.”  I didn’t believed them after looking at everything in the flat. Right after that I went to sleep because I was tired after the long flight from Colorado.

After sleeping for what felt like a day but was only four hours, it was the middle of the night and I looked out the window. The Eiffel Tower was right outside my window and it’s beautiful. It’s as pretty as every single sunset or beach I’ve ever seen. Well it’s 4:00 in the morning and my first dance rehearsal isn’t until 8:00AM so I might as well wait.

After waiting for what felt like forever,  I finally started walking to the dance studio. I have a piece of paper with the address but I don’t know how to pronounce it.  As I’m walking, I see as many food stands I could ever see! Lined up in rows, in which looked like millions, filled with croissants, coffee, tea, and one of the reasons why I was excited to come to Paris. I went to go get a croissant after I promised myself I would run to the studio after. So I did and I arrived at the location and saw the Eiffel Tower.

“What?” I said to myself. “Does anyone know where this is??” I shouted as I was showing a lady the piece of paper.

So this random lady pointed right at the Eiffel Tower and I thought it my head that maybe my studio was here. I didn’t know where to walk and I was freaking out.

Well I finally found out where to go, after asking three more people, and I ran like the wind threw the big doors and went all the way up to the fifth floor. I was very nervous. I ran into the first door on the right and it was a dance studio but it wasn’t like you would have thought. It went on for what looked like miles and miles. It had shiny white floors and 20 beautiful ballet bars lined up for the 20 dancers and I was all alone. I didn’t know anybody.

The teacher said “Ok, just warm up and then we will start! Remember, you are here to pursue your dreams and tyou will get annoyed.”

I didn’t really know what she meant but I just got a lot more scared. On a white board it read “Today we will learning a dance and will be performing it in two weeks!” My heart fell to the floor. I have never had to perform a dance that I have been working on for two weeks. Who would? Well maybe if you have done this before but that’s not the point!

We started with the routine and it was a piece of cake! It was fun but I was still scared of what it would look like in two weeks. The other girls were really talented and I was a bit scared about that aspect.

The class trailed on and on and on until we had to do the dance alone. I guess this is the moment I was annoyed. I messed up in front of the whole class and I was so embarrassed.  I wanted to run out of the room and go home. The class was over but the teacher just wanted to talk to me alone. She explained how this always happens to at least one person in the class and not to be afraid and to look at the bright side or something like that.

For the next four months I was in this class, I finally graduated and had my own dance studio right next door to teach on my own! This was my dream and I’ve always wanted to accomplish this. I had no idea that this would happen because this is Paris.
