Short Story- Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday
One windy Friday morning Nick woke up very happy, because today was his birthday. He got straight out of bed and BOOM!! His feet hit the floor because he was so excited.  It was about a 10 minute walk normally but today Nick was in a great mood and got there in 7 minutes.
When Nick got to school he received many gifts from his friends. Nick couldn’t wait until lunch. At lunch he would ask his friends if they wanted to go to his house after school for cake. When he got to lunch, all of his friends came running as fast as cheetahs at him to say happy birthday. Soon after, Nick decided to invite his friends over to his house. All of them said yes.  Nick couldn’t wait for later that day because his friends were coming over and he was going to open his present from his parents.
When they boys arrived at Nick’s house, they went inside to get food because they were so hungry that they could eat a horse. After they ate a snack, they went to the living room so that Nick could open his present from his parents. Nick was hoping that his present would be a dog, but he has wanted that for 5 years now and hasn’t gotten it yet. Nick ripped open a peace of the wrapping paper and saw a dog cage. His heart was pounding so heavy now. He ripped the rest of the wrapping paper off and saw no dog in the cage. He looked up at his parents, who were taking a video of him, and they looked confused. Nick didn’t know what to say.
“Honey, I swear that there was a cute dog in there. It must have got out of the cage and ran away,” Nick’s mom said sadly.
“Well like can you find it because this is not okay mom!!!” Nick yelled back.
“Okay I will go look. I swear that I got the dog though. Ask your dad I got the dog at Dan’s Downie Doggy’s store in Deer Park,” replied mom.
“I don’t believe you unless you find the dog!” Nick exclaimed.
“Okay I will be right back in 30 min with your dog,” mom said sadly.

Nick couldn’t stop thinking about what just happened. He looked around for a minute wondering where his friends went, but then he realized that they left when he started to yell at his mom.
All of the sudden the front door opened and Nick heard the dog. He darted over to the door and couldn’t believe his eyes. He saw the beautiful brown striped dog run into the house. Nick ran immediately to the dog to pet it and play with it. When he was done playing with his dog he ran over to his parents and gave them both huge hugs and said thank you.
“It was our pleasure Nick, we hope you had a great birthday,” said Nick’s mom.
“You guys are the best parents ever. Where did you find the dog?” asked Nick
“It turns out that we left him at the store and only took the cage home! Well anyways go have fun with your dog. See you in the morning,” replied Nick’s mom.

Nick couldn’t go to bed without naming his dog. He took about an hour to remember what he wanted his dog's name to be 5 years ago. He couldn’t remember that, so he decided to name it Lost because it got lost.

“Ugh! My family is so annoying all they do is yell at me. Even if I do something good they’ll find the littlest mistake.” Then my mom comes to my door she was banging on that door like a fighter pounding a boxing bag. “KNOCK KNOCK!” “OPEN UP MIKE!” She screamed.
